'Colour Play (Red 1)' by Stu Burke

£400.00

Colour Play (Red 1), 2025, Wood, spray paint, wooden dowel, and glue, 36x30x6cm, Stu Burke

Stu Burke is an artist, curator, researcher and writer based in Sheffield. He is co-director of GLOAM Gallery, Curatorial Ethics Network (CEN) member, and benefactor of the Roland Orépük association for non-objective art (Aropano).

Through playful enquiry, his practice explores the limitations of what painting and sculpture can be, often working between the two, to incite a dialogue between colour, space, material and shape. This process is organic and largely experimental, giving way to chance, and unexpected outcomes. The works often posses a temporality and honesty as evident in the marks, rips, holes, lines, cracks, stains and scars.
